More about me & my teaching

I was first introduced to Yoga during my teens by my grandmother in the 1970s. To help me with stress and anxiety, she gave me a sequence of asana – yoga postures and gentle movements synchronised with the breath.

For the first time, I paid close attention to breath and sensation and became aware of a deep sense of calm that sometimes remained for days after I’d completed the sequence. I realised then that I’d found something within and beyond myself that could dramatically change the way I felt and relate to the world.

Having explored many styles of yoga and meditation over the years, I decided to train as a teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga (500 hours), and I began teaching in 2014. My main influences from the Yoga world are the teachers Esther Ekhart, Donna Farhi and Pete Blackaby.

Becoming more interested in somatic approaches to yoga (soma is a Greek word meaning ‘living body’), which place particular focus on a deepening awareness of sensation and self, I came across the Feldenkrais Method through Dan Gelblum, a wonderful teacher who brings yoga and Feldenkrais together in his classes. This work was so much more subtle than most of the yoga I had experienced and honestly, quite weird. I started the 4-year Feldenkrais training in 2022 in Sussex with Garet Newell and completed in February 2026.

Although my yoga classes do incorporate elements of Feldenkrais, I offer stand-alone Feldenkrais public and individual lessons as unique explorations in a grace and ease in movement. Although Feldenkrais can complement a yoga practice, the method comes from a different understanding of the nervous system and the brain’s capacity for learning and renewal (neuroplasticity).

Whether teaching Yoga, Feldenkrais, or Meditation, I teach without achievement or goals in mind – but to find out for myself and others what it feels like to be aware – of bones, breath, muscles, skin. To be aware of the air, the light, of the warmth of human and non-human contact. To sense into the softness of available energy.

I am Certified as a Yoga Teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga, as an iRest Yoga Nidra Teacher with the iRest Institute, and as a Feldenkrais Practitioner with the Feldenkrais International Training Centre Ltd

I look forward to practicing with you. Please get in touch if you’d like to find out more and to chat about which lessons might best suit you.
